OpenShift Engineer (Contract role)

We are looking for a Senior, Contract-based Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Infrastructure Engineer. You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environments to support our clients’ containerised applications and services. Your expertise in OpenShift architecture and cloud technologies will be essential in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of their containerised infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environments across on-premises, cloud, hybrid cloud and edge infrastructures.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to understand application requirements and design appropriate OpenShift solutions.
• Configure and optimise OpenShift clusters for performance, scalability, and high availability.
• Develop automation scripts and tools for provisioning, monitoring, and managing OpenShift infrastructure using technologies such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Collaborate with data architects and engineers to optimise the data layer infrastructure.
• Implement security controls and policies to safeguard containerised workloads, including network segmentation, authentication, and encryption.
• Monitor and troubleshoot OpenShift environments, identifying and resolving issues related to infrastructure, networking, and application performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with IT governance, compliance, and security standards.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills in English and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and in a cross-functional team environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Infrastructure Engineer with a focus on containerisation and Kubernetes platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, including installation, configuration, and administration across on premises and cloud availability zones.
• Proficiency in container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, including container networking, storage, and security concepts.
• Strong scripting skills in languages like Bash and Python with experience automating infrastructure tasks and workflows.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, or on premises virtualisation platforms such as VMWare.
• Knowledge of software development practices, CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Openshift Pipelines), and version control systems (e.g. Openshift Gitops).
• Solid understanding of Linux operating systems and sysadmin principles.
• Experience optimising and fine-tuning data layer infrastructure components such as databases, storage systems, and data processing frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification.
• Experience with logging and monitoring solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Splunk.
• Understanding of agile methodologies and DevOps principles for continuous integration and deployment.
